The Reims Scène d'Europe Festival is one of the highlights of the Comédie de Reims' programme. During one month in December, it produces and hosts European artists from many various fields: theatre, dance, music, visual arts, live arts. The 2013 edition will take place from 27th November to 17th December.

It is the Earth that is now quaking… The era we live in is one of unprecedented changes within the terrestrial biosphere. Climate change, erosion of the biodiversity, pollution of the lands and seas, damage of resources, etc. We must really grasp awareness of all this and think twice about the way we live on Earth.

The artists integrate the necessity of this change of conscience and their works prove it, not only through the subjects they tackle but through the thoughts that guide them, the theoretical influences that nourish them, through their practice and technique.

By means of the emotions they arouse, the detours they use, the role playing only art knows how to produce, Theatre, Dance, Music, Literature, Arts and the Cinema invent models, imaginary devices that can make everyone sensitive to these changes, sometimes even more efficiently than speeches.

The Earth is not a decor, a stage, an environment anymore, it becomes a protagonist in its own right. We prepared this edition of Reims Scènes d’Europe by starting from the works of philosopher Bruno Latour, special guest of the festival.

With the artists and their creations, we will wonder about this new era and the way creators record its uniqueness.
