Stanislavsky Electrotheatre

The Stanislavsky Electrotheatre is a world-class center for contemporary theatre art. This new creative institution emerged within the walls of the former Stanislavsky Drama Theatre, located in the heart of Moscow. The ambitious reconstruction of the theatre’s physical plant, its internal reorganization, its technological revitalization, the transformation of the company, and the complete renewal of the repertoire was 18 months in the making.

Creatively speaking, the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre is an international centre for directors that combines a repertoire theatre and a contemporary cultural space, where world-class master directors do their work, and where young directors, composers, designers and choreographers conduct their experiments against a backdrop of the classical theatre tradition.

The Stanislavsky Electrotheatre has already assumed a position in the avant-garde of contemporary international culture, providing the opportunity for such iconic theatre masters as Theodoros Terzopoulos (Greece), Romeo Castellucci (Italy), Katie Mitchell (Great Britain) and Heiner Goebbels (Germany) to present their new work and ideas in Russia.
