Born in 1972, director writer and actor Eric de Vroedt is considered to be one of the most important Dutch theatre artists. In 2012, he was awarded the Amsterdamprijs, the most prestigious art award of the Netherlands, for his ten-episode series “MightySociety”, written and directed by him. In the past two years, the Schauspielhaus Bochum produced two of his productions: Hugo Claus’ “Freitag” (season 2013/14) and Judith Herzberg’s "Leas Hochzeit" (season 2014/15). His productions oscillate between realistic seriousness, formal lightness, and playful humour.
From September 2016 on, Eric de Vroedt will be the artistic director of the National Theatre 'Nationale Toneel' in The Hague/Netherlands.
