Farewell to our Director Ruth Heynen by UTE President, Michal Dočekal

Dear UTE Members, Dear Colleagues and Friends!

At the end of last year, Dr. Ruth Heynen ended her work as Director of the UTE.

Ruth Heynen spent eight very intensive years with the UTE, sometimes not easy, but more often very fruitful nonetheless.

During these years, we all were grateful to enjoy her skills, brilliant intelligence, passionate enthusiasm and many other talents, which together make Ruth an extremely effective manager and unique personality with a warm heart.

Thanks to Ruth Heynen, the UTE was not only able to fight difficulties during certain periods, but she also co-created and realized wonderful projects, most importantly Conflict Zones | Zones de Conflit, TERRORisms, Frontiers Liquides, and Nomadeurope. She helped bring to life the European theatre collective ISO-International Super Objective Theatre, and founded the UTE’s online theatre magazine conflict-zones.reviews.

This is obvious to all of us, but not only this is important - as a dedicated theatre person, Ruth became for many of us not just a professional colleague, but also a close personal friend. Thank you very much for your work, efforts, ideas and sincerity!

Dear Ruth,

It was a great advantage to have you at the UTE, it was a great honor to work with you and I am sure that I can speak in the name of all the members of the UTE - we wish you all the best in your new career!

Love and a hug,

Michal Dočekal
