Throughout 2013 and 2015, all the theatres participating in the TERRORisms project presented an original play, specifically written for the project. These series of plays conveyed the means of theatre, putting forward a certain aspect of the issue, to nurture both an artistic and scientific reflection.

26 October 2013, while celebrating the opening of Armin Petras’ artistic direction at the Schauspiel Stuttgart, the theatre presented its first artistic contribution to the TERRORisms project: 5 morgen, a play written by Fritz Kater and directed by Armin Petras.

The story takes place in a time when everything swims and blurs. It takes place “on a temporary film set with real cameras, where the understudies are making a run-through in front of an audience made of producers and spectators”: 5 persons, 5 matinees. The alert state is decreed in the city. Is it because of an explosion? Or a radioactive contamination? A dangerous virus? The society’s “burn-out”? Nobody knows. It seems that no foreign enemy can be held responsible. Present is dismantling. The negative utopia of implosion is becoming reel. This is no surprise. The state of panic does not reach to the point of being out of control. The same slogans as always are published in the media and provide details about the behaviour rules to adopt. In this exceptional situation, five persons develop their own survival strategy and technics. Paul, consultant in information technology, locks himself in his house with all the means he finds. He even refuses his wife to come in, lest he should get infected. Following the disaster, the life and marriage of August and Julia, who are on the verge of getting a divorce, seem to be accelerating, particularly with the arrival of student Missy, which will act as a catalyst. In order to survive, they all try whatever they can, their attempts being more or less brave, ridiculous, absurd, sad and inappropriate. Ever since the beginning, even before the disaster, their lives were already lost, meaningless and useless. These events provide meaning to the life of some protagonists, even though this is only temporary. When dying, some will even try to get a new start.
