For its creation, the Szputnyik Shipping Company partnered with the Union of European Theatres and several European theatres and theatre companies to conceive a both nomadic and collaborative theatrical project.
Social Error was a theatrical project based on George Orwell’s 1984 and the rules of the "Settler" board game. This vicious and action-packed theatrical event displayed the inner workings of an Orwellian world through elements borrowed from the universe of multiplayer board games. Offering the audience a chance to interact through voting — a concept taken from TV reality shows —, the show reveals the logic behind the political and social phenomenon of our modern societies.
Designed to tour all over Europe, the project took place in a context of international cooperation between several theatre companies and international institutions and led to the creation of a multi-lingual theatre product that travelled around Europe all through 2013.
The show Last Man in ... – Social Error— adapted according to the country it toured, visited the following theatres: Schauspielhaus Graz (Austria), Staatstheater Mainz (Germany), Hungarian Theatre of Cluj (Romania), Schauspiel Leipzig/Centraltheater (Germany), Fondazione Teatro Due (Italy), and the National Theatre in Budapest (Hungary).
