Bulgarian director Boris Krastev graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art “Krastyu Sarafov” (2011 – 2016) in Sofia where he studied both directing and acting.
He participated in several workshops among others The Body at the Trinity College in Dublin, Process to performance in context of the UTE Decentralized Academy 2012 and the Atelier 200 workshop at the Sfumato Theatre in Sofia.
In 2008, he left Bulgaria for France and passed a Bachelor’s degree in sciences at the Pierre et Marie Curie University/Sorbonne VI in Paris. All along his education, he has been an active member of several international social networks, among which the International Red Cross Movement, the Bulgarian Mountain Rescue organization and the French artistic organization “Les trois portes”.
At the NAFTA (National Academy for Theatre and Film Art) he directed Ivanov by Anton Chekhov (2015), Exit the King by Eugène Ionesco (2015), Arabian Night by Roland Schimmelpfennig (2014) and Dear Mr. Know it all (2015).
His production Dear Mr. Know it all was nominated for the NEU NOW Festival 2015 in the Netherlands.
Further productions at the Sfumato Laboratory Theatre Sofia (In the monastery based on M. Ruskov, 2015, Summer in the project Lazaritza, 2012), the Small Season Festival Sofia (Déjeuner sur l’Herbe, 2015) and at the Nikolay Binev – Youth Theatre, Sofia (Named Gospodin by Philipp Löhle, 2014).
Boris is one of the founding members of the international theatre group ISO.
He speaks Bulgarian, French and English.
