Once again the various performance venues of Reims made a joint enthusiastic effort to offer ten intense days of shows and artistic proposals from all over Europe.
Every year the festival provides the opportunity to share the performances of the leading figures of the European scene, to discover the most singular artists of their country or the proposals of younger companies.
In 2016, Greece was at the centre. The artists of the Greek contemporary scene presented their last creations which were inhabited by the suffering and hope of a population overwhelmed by the current situation.
"The crisis which has affected them so intensely is now experienced throughout Europe at various levels: it is not only economic, but also political and cultural. Greece invented the democratic society and performing arts at the same time. The country reminds us that theatre is a people’s art in which the artists and the audience form a poetic assembly that questions, calls to our minds and sometimes reinvents – during one show – the way we live together. More than even we need to exchange our ideas, to spread them, to share experiences and understand each other."
