The Hungarian Theatre of Cluj hosted 21 theatrical ensembles from 14 different countries during the 11 days of the Interferences festival. This year the biennial theatrical event welcomed ensembles from all around the world - from South Korea to the United States of America, from Germany and Luxembourg to Russia, etc. The main theme of the festival was The Stranger’s Odyssey, a topic represented in the 31 performances rendered by the guest ensembles of the event.

The performances of the festival were proven to be of great interest to the Cluj audiences, but also to those who came from all over the world to visit our city. Most of them were especially interested in the Brecht performances - one staged by the Vígszínház, the other by the Bulandra Theatre from Bucharest -, while the off-program events of the festival, such as concerts, book launches and dialogues with the creators, also attracted visitors to TIFF House and Tranzit House. The various performances took place in 7 distinct places around the city, with the Remarul 16 februarie factory, the REACTOR contemporary art space and The Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography having been included within the festival venues for the first time in its history.

Two separate workshops took place in parallel with the program of the festival: English director Declan Donnellan led a workshop meant for young actors, while Diana Damian headed one for young theatre critics. Also, a meeting took place among young journalists within the Conflict Zones Project of the Union des Théâtres de l'Europe.
